Angel Island Adventure
In the middle of San Francisco Bay sits Angel Island State Park, offering spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline, the Marin Headlands and Mount Tamalpais. V-O-Cal is pleased to organize an exciting project the last weekend of July. Angel Island has a small maintenance staff and a long list of needs. We will be camping on the island and working on projects ranging from repairing split-rail fencing to rebuilding and re-routing the trail from the beach to the kayak camp. The logistics of getting to and from this project are significant! We encourage volunteers to take the Friday evening ferry over to the island. A early morning ferry on Saturday will be available too. Space is limited and this project will fill up. Due to ferry logistics, reservations are required. Registration is full. We are taking a waiting list in case someone cancels. Sign-up for the wait list. Date: Friday, July 27 thru Sunday, July 29, 2007 Size of Project: 85 volunteers Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate Agency Partner: California State Parks
Common Questions What's the best way to get there? Where do I park? How much does it cost? Can I take a SF ferry? Yes, but please inquire. Is there an age minimum? Yes, volunteers 14 and older please. We'll have sharp tools on this project. Do I have to camp? No, camping is optional. However, camping is free of charge and open to volunteers both Friday and Saturday nights. Can I participate just one day? Yes. Registration priority is given to full-weekend volunteers.
