Volunteers for Outdoor California is truly run by volunteers. V-O-Cal is building several volunteer committees that will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations and long-term planning. The level of commitment varies from one committee to another, but each offers a wonderful opportunity to get involved and help shape the future of V-O-Cal!
Crew Leaders are the backbone of every V-O-Cal project. The main responsibility for each crew leader is managing 6-8 volunteers in such a way that everyone has fun and everyone works safely. This committee is responsible for training V-O-Cal crew leaders, instructors and mentors, and for providing crew leader managers for V-O-Cal projects.
Be the first to know! Work behind the scenes to help decide which projects V-O-Cal will complete each year. Join this committee to solicit, scout and review proposed projects, and then select the projects will undertake each season.
Because most V-O-Cal projects include at least some camping, and all projects include great food, managing the logistics for all the camp-side activity is a key job. Ever wanted to learn how to feed 200 people 5 meals over a weekend? This is the committee for you! Join this committee to help recruit and train PSC's for V-O-Cal projects. These are the folks that shop for and prepare the food and energy for the volunteers working on the various V-O-Cal projects throughout the season.
Keep the energy alive by helping develop a cadre of well-trained and experienced technical advisors to manage the design and construction of V-O-Cal projects.
Do you like to work in the tool shed? This committee is responsible for making sure there is an adequate tool supply for each project and for maintaining hundreds of items in the V-O-Cal tool cache.
Supercharge this committee with your creative ideas. Help oversee and assist with implementation of V-O-Cal's marketing strategies to engage volunteers in the stewardship of Colorado's public lands.
Reach out and spread the V-O-Cal word. Join this committee to educate others about the value of volunteers, help manage affiliate relationships and other partnerships, and oversee the skills workshops and the VOC Network.
Get the younger generation involved and hooked on helping the outdoors. Help address the growth, development and enhancement of V-O-Cal's youth program. Many committee members also serve as youth liaisons on V-O-Cal projects.
