COVID Precautions

V-O-Cal puts safety first. Please remember that all participants are required to be vaccinated. Protocols will be used in connection with food preparation and service (kitchen crew will mask in confined areas and during food services), and social distancing in outdoor areas will be requested.

Project Background and Description

Lake Merced is owned by the SF Public Utilities Commission (PUC) but the recreation areas are managed by SF Recreation & Park. We have been given the unique opportunity to camp on PUC property right off the lake. V-O-Cal volunteers will be helping to repair and restore the perimeter trail around the lake, improving the quality of access for a variety of trail uses.

Camp

Camping is open to volunteers Friday and Saturday nights. Food is also provided for volunteers from breakfast Saturday through lunch Sunday. While camping is optional and participants are able to participate for one day, this will be a unique opportunity to relax after the work day and camp in a festive atmosphere with other volunteers.

We encourage participants to carpool because of the large number of people and limited parking. If you need a ride, or have space in your car, please try and carpool. Parking for the project will be within a short walk of the campsite. Signs will direct you to parking when you reach the park.
