Although the State Parks system has postponed our Angel Island trail work, you can still join us the same weekend for an exciting new project at Coyote Lake Harvey Bear Ranch County Park in Santa Clara County. We'll be working on the Lakeside Trail, a one mile shady section that is wedged between the road and the Coyote Creek that feeds the reservoir.

We'll be returning to beautiful Sanborn Park in Santa Clara County.

V-O-Cal and other volunteers have been involved in building trails at Moore Creek, since 700 acres of mostly wild and natural property was acquired in 2009 by the Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District. Since then the NCRPOSD has been working on installing a multiuse trail network and other recreation facilities. V-O-Cal volunteers have spent 5 weekends in the past building trails there, and were on site to help open this fantastic new park in 2013. Since then, and with the addition of 900 acres and new trails around adjacent Lake Hennessey, it has become a favorite destination for trail enthusiasts of all stripes.

V-O-Cal volunteers will be rehabilitating long-neglected trail at Lynch Canyon Open Space, land that was saved from becoming landfill by the Solano Land Trust, our hosts this weekend. Our focus will be on the Prairie View Trail, a segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail, which continues across the street in Rockville Hills County Park, as part of an eventual 550 mile loop encircling the Bay. We will be widening the trail in places, improving drainage, and making some small re-routes to improve sustainability.

Party With V-O-Cal! Join your V-O-Cal friends for a get together to celebrate getting started with a brand new project season.

It's time, yet again, to prepare for the 2023 VOCal Season! Woop woop! It takes a fair amount of effort to make sure that all those tools are in good shape to last through the project season, and the annual O'Tool Day is all about sharpening, cleaning, and repairing everything we need for a successful season. Please join us for our 2023 O'Tool Day to enjoy some St Patty's Day goodies while we do all we can to get ready for the upcoming season. Due to the date of the first project of the year we will be doing O'Toole Day a wee early this year.

East Bay Regional Park District’s 3,314-acre Anthony Chabot Regional Park has miles of beautiful hiking, riding, and bicycling trails through grasslands, chaparral, and shady eucalyptus groves, and along the shore of Lake Chabot. V-O-Cal heads to the East Bay in October for a project at Anthony Chabot Regional Park. We will reroute a section of the Towhee Trail, which currently goes through the park's corporation yard and passes through dumpsters and heavy equipment.

This year is also the 20th Anniversary of the East Bay Hills Benefit, a hiking or horse back riding overnight adventure that takes participants through many of the great East Bay trails. It is also a fundraiser for V-O-Cal and other related groups. This event will be held August 31 - Sept 5. Because volunteers like you have helped provide a quality experience for our riders and hikers, we have been able to raise over $360,000 over the past 20 years to support trail building and volunteer trail work programs like V-O-Cal.
